Who kneads proper bread

This week's bake-along theme was bread, but I wasn't feeling like making a "proper" yeast/kneading bread.

Actually it isn't really fair for me not to think of this as a proper bread. Baking isn't a competitive sport, right? Right??

Instead, today I made Guinness soda bread. It was very easy, no kneading involved. It also tastes good and has a very interesting flavor. Doesn't really hurt that it has sugar in it too :)

That bread looks incredibly yummy (and a beautiful photograph, too).

My own favorite no-knead bread is indian fry dough - haven't done that in years, but it's easy, yummy, and great with honey...

  3. Was it hard to make? I bought a box mix of Beer Bread Mix from Trader Joe's and have not tried it yet. What did you serve with your bread??

  4. @eyebehold - ooh, I'll have to look into that. re: the photo, it was on macro (the flower) and I zoomed in. Didn't think it would work, but it did.

Thanks Diana, I'll go do that now.

Knitwit, it was very easy. I don't know about your bread mix, but this recipe has brown sugar, so it was very sweet and just needed some butter. I'm going to put some icecream on it tonight :)
