Photographing Felted Hedgehogs

So I've been on a little quest for the past few weeks to try and learn how to take better photographs.

This week I was experimenting with composition, and I have to say it was really fun!

First thing I did was look at these websites: Composition and Rule of Thirds and Composition rules.

Typically my photos look like this:
mushroom and hedgehog side by side

But, these are much more exciting:
mushroom closeup and hedgehog
hedgehog closeup and toadstool
hedgehog and toadstool

Also, I thought this was interesting:

Even though the hedgehog is the focus of the shot, I think the bottom one, where he's off to the side, is a much better picture.

This might be the last of my photography experiment posts for a few weeks at least. I think it's time for me to move on...
But feel free to keep it going, do your own experiments, and grab the code below and share it on your blog.

  1. I love your experiments. And I agree -- I think the ones with the hedgehog off to the side with the toadstool in the background are more interesting -- they seem to tell a story.
