Girly socks?

What do you think?

I'm going to knit some socks for my brother for Christmas, and I showed him this pattern as an example of cables, and he said he liked the pattern.

Soooo. Do you think it would be too girly if I used this yarn?

black bean yarn

It's one of the ones I dyed with black bean.

So far two nice twitter folks said no, one said it wouldn't be "too girly". Hmmm.

I think it will be okay - it seems to have a little brown/grey in it, and that will make it completely fine. Plus, your brother is very secure in his masculinity, is he not? ;-) Love the pattern, though - way too hard for me (I'm still doing basic pattern and, like training for the marathon, looking to bring down my completion time...).

I would say it would depend on his style and if Suzanne is correct and he is very secure in his masculinity then it would work. I do know plenty of men that only wear black, brown or blue socks. :)

  3. Well, my mom says no, so that's decided it :)
Thanks for your input though Suzanne and Michelle!

  4. Lovely yarn but if the color isn't manly enough, add some brown as a pattern in the cuff, heel or toe.
